Woman hit by suspected drunk driver in Kirkland crosswalk

KIRKLAND, Wash. - A suspected drunk driver struck and injured a woman late Wednesday in Kirkland as she was crossing a street in a marked crosswalk, police said.

Officers were called to the scene, the crosswalk at NE 85th Street and 124th Avenue NE in Kirkland, just after 11 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of a serious injury accident.

Arriving at the scene, they found a woman with head injuries who had been struck by a man driving a Honda Pilot. The woman was conscious and talking when medics arrived. She was taken to Evergreen Hospital for treatment, and her condition was not immediately available.

The male driver was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of DUI.

The names, ages and hometowns of the driver and victim were not immediately available.
