Woman critically injured in I-405 high-speed rollover crash

KIRKLAND, Wash. - Three people were rushed to the hospital following a car crash that blocked lanes of northbound Interstate 405 for several hours on Sunday.

A Duvall man driving a pickup truck hit a blue Honda while changing lanes and speeding, according to reports. The truck rolled several times, ejecting a female passenger and finally coming to rest in the brush.

The 45-year-old truck passenger wasn't wearing a seat belt, and now faces critical injuries at Harborview.

Emergency response teams rushed to NB I-405 and 116th at 11:30 a.m and found the mangled truck wedged in the grass off the road.

The Honda driver was taken to Overlake Hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash is being investigated as vehicular assault, and the driver of the truck was booked into King County Jail for a possible DUI.

Troopers made quick work of clearing the closed road by opening HOV and multipurpose lanes to alleviate congestion. Frustrated drivers continued to experience traffic delays until the early evening.
