Wild mushroom pickers seeing huge harvest
SEATTLE - All this rain has mushroom enthusiasts drooling as experts predict crop numbers are looking very healthy this year.
KPLU reports after a shortage of 'shrooms last season, recent weather conditions have really helped wild mushroom growth.
James Nowak, an amateur mycologist, told KPLU there were some concerns over the summer due to all the hot days in a row. But the recent rains have really helped the harvest and he thinks the wild mushroom season should last into December barring any freezing weather.
The Puget Sound Mycological Society's Wild Mushroom Show happens this weekend in Seattle. You can find Nowak showcasing some of his favorite ways to cook a variety of wild mushrooms.
