What the Seahawks Super Bowl Ring Is Really Worth
Who can forget that day in February when Seattle won Super Bowl XLVIII? Not only did the Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos, they beat them in a landslide. While many were confident in their victory, no one guessed they'd win 43-8. An incredible win deserves an incredible Super Bowl championship ring. And an incredible ring this is.
Tiffany & Co. produced the ring with design help from coach Pete Carroll and owner Paul Allen, along with other Seahawks execs. The design pays homage to Seattle, with the skyline featured prominently on the left side, or shank as it's called for rings. The right shank features their 16-3 record, CenturyLink field and a 12th man flag, all with Mt. Rainier rising out of the background. The Seahawks tweeted a description of their design, explaining how the 12th man inspired several aspects of the ring's design.
"Framed by 12 gemstones. Engraved with 12 feathers. 12 flags on top, bottom and the stem. Our #SuperBowlRing." The Seahawks Twitter account described.
To a precious metal and gemstone enthusiast, this ring is drool-worthy. Made from solid white gold, and literally covered in gemstones, the Seahawks Super Bowl ring is the definition of bling. Sixty-four round diamonds comprise the Seahawks logo, with a tsavorite eye that gleams emerald. The Vince Lombardi Trophy is pictured in the background, and it's made of one solitary marquis-cut diamond. The logo and trophy are set in a background of no fewer than 107 round diamonds. Sapphires line the entire top, forty of them in all. Each ring is personalized with the player's name and number on one side. And the phrases "LEAVE NO DOUBT", "24/7", "SEA 43- DEN 8" and "WHAT'S NEXT?" are engraved inside each ring. Click here to see how the Seahawk ring compares to other Super Bowl rings.
The Seahawks have not disclosed the cost of the rings but the NFL gives teams $5,000 per ring for up to 150 rings. Team can spend more on the rings and order more rings if they pay the extra cost. Players and others who receive Super Bowl rings (and other championship rings) have been known to sell them. There are a lot of factors to consider in estimating the value of a Super Bowl ring, like the condition, if it was a player's ring, and which player owned it.
Since this is the first NFL title for Seattle, Bellevue Rare Coins would consider the value of a Seahawk Super Bowl ring to start at $50,000. But of course, any Seahawk fan would consider this ring priceless. Do you want to see what your jewelry is really worth? Come into Bellevue Rare Coins! We'll tell you for free.
