Wanted felon eludes King County deputies in stolen car

RENTON, Wash. -- King County sheriff's deputies are asking for help to track down a wanted felon who was able to get away from police Friday morning in a stolen car.

Deputies tried to arrest 36-year-old Jeremy Alan Maddalena Friday morning in the area of SE 136th Street and 171st Avenue SE. Maddalena, who has a warrant out for his arrest, stole a car and got away before deputies could nab him.

Moments later, a man who lives nearby called 911 to say someone had just crashed a car into some rocks on his property. The caller said he saw two people -- a man and a woman -- get out of the car and run away.

Deputies arrived at the crash site and realized the car was the same one Maddalena had stolen that very morning. With help from Guardian 1 and several K-9 units, deputies began scouring the area to find Maddalena and the unidentified woman.

Deputies stopped a car that was leaving the area to see if Maddalena was inside. He wasn't, but in an odd twist they learned the car was stolen. Deputies arrested the driver and a passenger.

The team continued looking for Maddalena, but they didn't find him. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the King County Sheriff's Office at (206) 296-3311.
