Police say 32-year-old Hugo Yanez and 29-year-old Desi Beltran were diving west on I-90 Wednesday evening when they slammed into each other multiple times at high speed until they rolled in the median at Bellevue near Lake Sammamish.
The drama apparently began at about 6:30 p.m. near North Bend when the two -- a Beltran in1995 Ford Explorer and a Yanez in a 2007 Ford Freestyle -- got into a collision on I-90.
As the two vehicles continued west on the freeway, they crashed into one another multiple times over a distance of several miles, according to witnesses.
The incident was reported by more than a dozen motorists who called 911, and police responded to the scene.
"There's two dangerous vehicles on I-90 going west," one witness said to a 911 dispatcher. "They're almost into Issaquah right now and they're doing about 100 plus."
Eventually both cars rolled over and came to rest in the median in Bellevue. No one was seriously hurt in the crash, including a woman and small child who were in the car with Yanez.
Police say Yanez, who had a warrant out for his arrest, ran from the scene after the crash. But he left his driver's license in the wrecked car and police tracked him down a short time later at his Bellevue home.
It's unclear exactly what sparked the road rage incident, but Beltran told troopers he was dating the woman who was in the car with Yanez.
Both men were in court Friday to face a judge. Yanez was charged with misdemeanor counts of reckless driving, reckless endangerment and two counts of hit and run. His bail was set at $20,000.
Beltran was charged with a count of felony domestic violence assault. His bail was set at $1 million.
