Truck fire sparks miles-long backup on I-90 during commute

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Traffic was backed up on eastbound Interstate 90 during the Thursday afternoon commute after a cargo trailer burst in to flames.

All eastbound lanes were closed after the fire broke out at about 3:40 p.m., and a six-mile backup quickly formed.

Traffic is now being rerouted to the express lanes, and there were plans to open up two lanes of the mainline by about 4:10 p.m.

There was no immediate word on how the fire started or the condition of the truck driver.
