Traffic: Utility work to cause congestion along 15th Ave. NE

SEATTLE - Drivers are advised to expect congestion on 15th Avenue Northeast between Northeast 63rd and Northeast 65th Streets starting Monday.

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) says a private contractor will spend the next week working on underground utility lines causing all but one lane to close along that stretch of road.

Flaggers will be on hand alternating traffic between the north and southbound lanes. The sidewalk on the west side of the street will also be closed to pedestrian traffic. Crews will help detour pedestrians to the east side of the street.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15, from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m., daily.

SDOT says depending on how much gets done crews may be back the following week.

Both the road and the sidewalk will reopen outside of the work hours.
