Teen arrested after allegedly showing gun near schools
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- An 18-year-old man was arrested after allegedly threatening an apparent stranger with a gun, causing lockdowns at three nearby schools Thursday morning in Federal Way.
According to the Federal Way Police Department, the suspect was driving in the 2600 block of Southwest 327th Street when he threatened a 19-year-old pedestrian with a handgun.
It does not appear the two men knew each other or had any previous interaction, according to police.
The victim provided police with the car's license plate number, and officers traced it to the residence of a man who has at least one arrest for a weapons-related charge.
Officers surrounded the house, but the suspect escaped out the backdoor, according to police.
He was spotted by a detective and arrested for investigation of threats with a weapon.
Decatur High School, Olympic View Elementary and Twin Lakes Elementary briefly went into lockdown during the incident.
