Tacoma toddler dies after mom accidentally hits him with car

TACOMA--A young Tacoma boy died in a neighborhood near S. 88th St. and S. Alaska St. Saturday in what appears to be a tragic accident.

The two-and-a-half-year-old boy was struck by a car driven by his mother at 11:42 a.m., Tacoma Police said.

She was moving the car to let the children play in the driveway, according to police.

The boy, who apparently was caught underneath the car, was taken to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:30 p.m.

No names or an exact cause of death have been released.
