Suspect in wife's murder turns in passport, bails out of jail

EVERETT -- Murder suspect Alan Smith turned in his passport, posted bond Saturday night and got out of the Snohomish County Jail, early Sunday morning.

Smith is a suspect in his estranged wife Susann Smith's murder in February, Bothell Police said.

She was found bludgeoned to death at the couple's Bothell home.

Smith was charged with obstructing an officer on Friday after police say they were not able to find his passport and he did not turn it over.

Police believe he is a flight risk.

He has not been charged in his estranged wife's death.

In an interview with KOMO last week he denied having an role in his wife's murder.
