Suspect at large after robbery of downtown Seattle shoe store

SEATTLE - Officers are looking for an armed man who robbed a downtown Seattle shoe store and remains at large.

Officers responded to the scene, the Payless shoe store in the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue, at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, after receiving a report of an armed robbery, said Detective Jeff Kappel of the Seattle police.

A preliminary investigation found that a suspect entered the shoe store armed with a handgun and made off with cash, shoes, and socks. Responding officers searched the area but found nothing, and the suspect remains at large. No one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s, standing about 5-feet-6-inches tall, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a blue and orange baseball cap, a black jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5535. Anonymous tips are welcome.
