Storm sign all-time leading WNBA scorer Tina Thompson

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Storm added more firepower to their roster Monday with the addition of veteran forward Tina Thompson, the team announced Monday.

Thompson is the all-time leading scorer in WNBA history with 6,751 points over 15 seasons -- mainly with the now-defunct Houston Comets and most recently with the Los Angeles Sparks. By adding Thompson to a roster that already includes Katie Smith and Lauren Jackson, the Storm now boast the top 3 active all-time WNBA scorers on their roster.

An eight-time All-Star and three-time All-WNBA First Team selection, Thompson was recognized as one of the WNBA's Top 15 Players of All-Time in 2011. She teamed with Storm veteran Sue Bird to lead the USA National Team to Olympic gold medals in the 2004 and 2008 Games.

"Adding a player of Tina Thompson's experience and championship caliber further complements our vision of building a championship team," Storm CEO and President Karen Bryant said in a statement announcing the signing.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The team also announced it re-signed reserve Ewelina Kobryn.
