Snohomish County jailer resigns over hair-pulling incident

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A Snohomish County corrections sergeant who pulled a co-worker's hair at the jail in September pleaded guilty Monday in Everett to misdemeanor assault.

Jerry Dixon was sentenced to 364 days in jail, but term is suspended as long as the 44-year-old doesn't break the law in the next two years.

The Daily Herald reports Dixon resigned as part of a plea agreement.

Court papers say the hair-pulling took place in an elevator as an officer was ending her shift. Dixon told her she would have to wear her hair differently when she began reporting to him. The woman says he grabbed her head and pulled her hair.

The sheriff's office recently asked the Justice Department to review operations and medical services at the jail because of several recent deaths.
