Shoreline-based fishing boat sinks near Kodiak; crew rescued

KODIAK, Alaska (AP) - A Coast Guard helicopter from Kodiak rescued four fishermen and their dog Wednesday night from a sinking vessel 190 miles southwest of Kodiak.

The Coast Guard says all are in good condition.

The crew of the Shoreline, Wash.-based Ocean Viking, sent a distress call that the 76-foot vessel was taking on water. The crew put on their immersion suits, abandoned ship into a life raft and activated an emergency radio beacon.

When last seen, the Ocean Viking was partially submerged. The Coast Guard is warning other vessels to keep a lookout to avoid a collision.
