Medics were called to the eighth floor of the building in the 100 block of Taylor Ave. N. after a man in his 30s was injured by a 4-inch Grinder wheel. When medics found the man, about a quarter of the wheel was embedded in his cheek.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was in stable condition.
Monday, a 35-year-old man died when he fell from some scaffolding on one of the upper floors of the building. Doctors were unable to save the man and he died at the hospital.
State inspectors checked the job site in April and found no safety violations. The company running the project also has a good record, with no license violations in the past six years.
The Department of Labor and Industries will be investigating both incidents.
