The attack took place on the north side of Campion Hall near James Street. The victim told police the suspect started following her at the Broadway and Pine Intersection.
The man made several attempts to speak with the woman, but she told him to leave her alone. He didn't listen, and followed the student more than a half-mile to East James Street, near the Seattle U campus.
Police say the student cut through a wooded area near the dorms, and that's when the suspect attempted to rob her. He grabbed the victim from behind and pushed her to the ground, police say.
The attacker wanted the woman's cell phone and told her she'd be sexually assaulted if she didn't listen.
The victim managed to break free and called the police for help. The victim suffered no injuries during the attack.
The suspect was last seen running on East James Street toward Broadway. Police searched the area, but didn't find him.
The woman described her attacker as a dark-skinned man, about 25 to 35 years old. He was about 5'9 to 5'11. During the attack, he wore blue jeans and a red, rain jacket with gray stripes on the sleeves.
Campus officials are reminding students to keep safety in mind at all times.
