Residents invited to learn about development plans for local church

MEDINA - Residents are invited to learn more about a proposed plan by St. Thomas Episcopal Church to build a two-story Life Center in place of the existing Parish Center at 8398 Northeast 12th Street.

The church wants to tear down the current center and replace it with a 22,500 square foot building.

Robert Grumbach, director of development services for Medina, says the church was required to get a special use permit for the project, which it did. Grumbach says the overall project will occupy the same foot print as the existing building but the church will be adding an additional floor above and a basement below, making the overall space of the facility larger.

The public will be able to provide written and oral feedback on the impacts construction could pose.

Crews will be demolishing the existing building, excavating 1,500 cubic yards of dirt and bringing in 100 cubic feet of fill for the project.

The public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, at 6:30p.m., inside city hall.
