Police swarm West Seattle neighborhood after shooting

SEATTLE -- With guns drawn, a cadre of police officers scoured a West Seattle neighborhood Wednesday evening after a 31-year-old man was shot in the face with a pellet gun.

Officers first responded to the 4700 block of 38th Avenue Southwest just before 5 p.m. after getting 911 calls about a shooting in the area.

When they arrived, they learned a man had been shot in the face while walking northbound on 38th Avenue.

Police have yet so say for sure what he was shot with, but they say it could be a pellet gun.

A witness helped the victim to a nearby fire station, and he was later taken to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for facial injuries.

Police have one person in custody for questioning, but they say the investigation -- and search -- is ongoing.
