Police: Man caught red-handed breaking into W. Seattle home
SEATTLE - Some quick thinking by a witness and a fast response by officers helped catch a burglar as he tried breaking into a West Seattle home Friday afternoon.
Just after 1 p.m., the witness called 911 to report seeing a man on the back side of a house in the 5000 block of 35th Avenue Southwest.
Detective Jeff Kappel of the Seattle Police said officers responded within minutes and set up a perimeter around the home. When the suspect noticed the officers he tried to escape but he didn't get very far.
One of the officers positioned near the south side of the home caught up with the 24-year-old and was able to block him from going down into Camp Long.
Officers arrested the suspect and booked him into jail for investigation of burglary.
