Police: Edmonds drunk driver causes 2 wrecks in 1 night

EDMONDS, Wash. -- Police in Edmonds say a drunk driver was involved in not one, but two car crashes Wednesday evening before being apprehended.

The 40-year-old Edmonds resident crashed into a car just before 7 p.m. in the area of 210th Street SW and 74th Avenue West, according to police.

The man drove away before officers arrived on scene.

One of the traffic officers investigating the crash recognized the description of the man's car as someone he'd had contact with before. While they were investigating the first crash, police got a 911 call about a reckless driver at 198th Street SW and 80th Avenue West.

Following up on the call, officers drove to the second scene and learned that a car had careened into a yard and rolled over. Police recognized the car as the one involved in the earlier crash.

The driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center with undetermined injuries. The driver was the only person injured in either crash.

Police say drugs or alcohol likely played a role in the crashes, and they expect the man will face multiple charges when he's released from the hospital
