The officer was in Fremont Wednesday afternoon when she spotted a car parked illegally. As she was writing the ticket, the owner of the car arrived on foot and began getting into the vehicle, according to police.
The officer told the man he had been cited and tried to hand him the ticket, but police say he refused to take it. He then started his car and began backing up, which is when police say he ran over the officer's foot.
The officer screamed for the man to stop, which he briefly did. Police say he acknowledged that he'd hit the officer and said he was going to park his car. Instead, he sped off "in an evasive manner," according to police.
Unfortunately for the driver, the officer already had his information and police were waiting for him at his house when he returned. The man, who has not been identified, was arrested and booked into King County Jail on suspicion of felony assault and hit and run.
The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to be fine.
