Police: Arsonist suspected in middle school fire

SEATTLE - An overnight fire at a school in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle has detectives looking for the suspects involved.

Investigators say someone broke into a portable classroom at Mercer Middle School around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, ransacked the room, then set a fire inside one of the portables.

Firefighters responded to the school's fire alarm and found evidence of forced entry and apparent arson. They quickly put out the flames, and CSI detectives were called in to assist with collecting evidence.

Police believe several computers were stolen from inside the classroom, and estimate the fire damage to be about $15,000.
