Pedestrian struck, killed by Metro bus on Capitol Hill

SEATTLE - A man was killed Monday morning when he was struck by a Metro bus in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, police said.

Officers and medics responded to the scene, in the 1100 block of E. Pine Street near Cal Anderson Park, at 6:03 a.m. after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a bus, said Detective Jeff Kappel of the Seattle police.

The man was found lying dead in the street behind the bus. His identity was not immediately known.

Seattle police are investigating the accident. The circumstances leading up to the collision were not immediately clear.

There were approximately three people aboard the bus at the time of the collision, however, it does not appear that any of the passengers witnessed the collision, Kappel said.

Metro bus routes 10 and 11 to downtown Seattle were temporarily rerouted during the investigation.
