Officers and medics responded to the scene, at 35th Avenue SW and SW Graham Street, at about 9:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a serious injury crash, said Detective Mark Jamieson of the Seattle police.
The 69-year-old victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Despite doctors' best efforts, he died of his injuries a short time later.
A preliminary investigation found that a Ford sedan was heading north on 35th Avenue SW when it struck the pedestrian at the intersection of SW Graham Street.
A drug recognition officer responded to the scene and evaluated the male driver of the Ford. There were no signs of any impairment on the part of the driver.
35th Avenue SW was closed for hours as detectives conducted their investigation. The roadway is now back open.
