Pedestrian seriously injured in hit and run

SEATTLE - A man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car at Yesler and Broadway early Saturday morning.

Seattle Police and Seattle Fire responded to the 800 Block of Yesler Way 4:15 a.m., and found a man rolling in the street with obvious injuries.

A passing motorist had previously flagged down an off-duty Washington State Patrol Trooper to report the man lying in the middle of the street.

A spokesman for the State Patrol says the off-duty trooper was directing traffic on Broadway for a construction company when a man on a bike told the workers someone had been hit.

Seattle police say there are no witnesses to the collision, but the off-duty trooper says a taxi driver may have seen the car drive away. The vehicle has been described as a white, older model Ford Taurus.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Seattle Police.
