Pedestrian hit, seriously injured in Aurora Avenue crash

SEATTLE -- A pedestrian is fighting for his life after being hit by a car Monday night in North Seattle.

Police say the crash happened at roughly 6 p.m. in the 4400 block of Aurora Avenue North.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was crossing the street when he was hit by a Honda 4-door sedan. Police say the man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

The pedestrian was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The driver, who is also a man in his 40s, wasn't injured in the crash. He stayed at the scene and is being interviewed by police.

Detectives from department's Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are now investigating. Police blocked northbound traffic onto the Aurora Bridge until the crash is cleared. The road is expected to reopen at approximately 9:30 p.m.
