New Husky Stadium on schedule for kickoff Aug. 31

In a little more than three months Husky fans will fill their new football stadium for the first kick-off.

The last time Husky football fans were in their own stadium - was November 5, 2011.

Right after the game, bulldozers moved in to tear down a structure that was in dire need of improvements.

Last year the team played at CenturyLink Field.

Fast forward to 2013, and the new Husky stadium is taking shape with more elevators, luxury suites and restaurants - without hiding the view of Lake Washington.

It's all part of the fan experience.

"It's going to be the best stadium in America, I know it's going to be an electric atmosphere," Husky head coach Steve Sarkisian said.

Construction has been on track since day one.

"I really feel it's our time. Be ready for it, it's a great ride," Sarkisian said.

The ride begins August 31 - when the Huskies take on Boise State.

KOMO asked UW's associate athletic director where he thinks the fans will have the best view.

He mentioned the northwest corner where you'll see the team run onto the field toward the lake, but added there won't be a bad seat in the house.
