Man wanted in connection with Renton attempted kidnapping

RENTON, Wash. -- Police in Renton hope a newly-released suspect sketch will help them nab the man accused of trying to kidnap a woman in broad daylight earlier this month.

On the afternoon of January 8, a 21-year-old woman was walking by herself in an industrial area near SW 21st Street and Lind Avenue SW. She told police a man pulled up to her in a truck and trailer and tried to strike up a conversation.

The driver, described as an Hispanic man in his late 20s or early 30s, parked the truck, got out and approached the woman on foot.

Police say he demanded the woman perform a sexual act and then tried to pull her into his truck. The woman fought him off and ran to a nearby business to get help.

Officers searched the area but didn't find the man.

Police say the attacker spoke Spanish and was wearing a light colored zip-up jacket and a baseball cap with a green brim. He was driving a light colored truck and towing a utility trailer with fire engine red sides, two black metal grate windows and a black metal grate on the rear. The trailer had small wheels and was described as being "tall in height and short in length."

Anyone with information about the man, the truck or the trailer should contact Renton police Detective Kordel at (425)-430-7647 and reference case 14-284.
