Man stabbed to death in Lynnwood; suspect flees on bike

LYNNWOOD, Wash. - A 33-year-old man was stabbed to death in a fight just after midnight Thursday, and the 35-year-old suspect was arrested about a mile away after he fled on a bicycle, police say.

Officers and medics responded to the scene, a home in the 5400 block of 204th Street SW in Lynnwood, a few minutes after midnight Thursday after receiving a report of an assault with a weapon.

The victim was found dead at the scene, said Shannon Sessions of the Lynwood Police Department.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, a 35-year-old Snohomish County-area man, stabbed the victim in the house and fled the area on a bicycle.

Officers cordoned off the area and located and arrested the suspect about 12 blocks away from the murder scene. He was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of homicide.

Detectives interviewed witnesses who were in the house at the time of the crime and determined that neither the suspect nor the victim lived there.

While the two were known to each other, the nature of why they were having a disagreement is still under investigation.

No one else was hurt in the incident.
