Life-threatening injuries for woman struck by van

KENT, Wash. - A 62-year-old woman is clinging to life after being struck by a van on the east hill of Kent Friday night.

According to police reports, the woman was walking on the sidewalk and heading north on 104th Ave SE within the 24100 block.

"As she crossed a driveway and in front of a vehicle that was waiting to make a right hand turn and enter the roadway, the vehicle pulled out from the driveway and collided with the woman," Sergeant Jarod Kasner said.

The 48-year-old uninjured driver stayed on-scene while emergency crews were called to aid the woman. Crews stabilized the woman, describing her injuries as life-threatening.

Traffic Investigators determined there was no evidence that drugs or alcohol was involved, and are continuing to review evidence before a decision for charges is made.
