Charge: Seattle mom stabs woman caught in bed with son

SEATTLE -- A Seattle mother is facing assault charges following allegations she stabbed her son's girlfriend the same night her son was shot in the leg.

King County prosecutors contend Christina Lee Robinson stabbed her adult son's girlfriend in the leg after finding the two of them in bed together at the family's Haller Lake neighborhood apartment.

Shortly before 1 a.m. on Sept. 1, Robinson, 41, discovered her son and the woman in bed together. Feeling "disrespected," Robinson began stabbing the bed, slicing the young woman's leg in the process, a Seattle detective told the court.

Police responding to the scene recovered a knife alleged to have been used in the attack. According to charging papers, Robinson admitted to stabbing the woman.

The night of the purported stabbing, police had actually been called to the Stone Avenue North apartment following reports of a shooting there.

Writing the court, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Jeffrey Dernbach said the woman's son had been shot in the leg. Police recovered shell casings from the apartment.

"However," the prosecutor continued, "no one at the scene claimed to have any knowledge of the shooting."

Robinson has been charged with second-degree assault in the matter. The investigation into the shooting appeared to be ongoing.
