BridgePort to make special brew for Hillsboro Hops

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) The BridgePort Brewing Company has been named the official beer of the Hillsboro Hops baseball team and will craft a special brew for the club.

The Oregonian reports ( ) the franchise and the brewery agreed to a three-year marketing deal.

Though he hasn't settled on a recipe for the team's beer, BridgePort brewmaster Jeff Edgerton says it will definitely go with hot dogs.

The minor league affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks moved to Hillsboro from Yakima, Wash., after the 2012 season and will play in a 4,500-seat stadium that's under construction.

The relocation marks a return of professional baseball to the Portland area. It had been without a team since the Portland Beavers left after the 2010 season.

The Hops play their first home game June 17.
