The bicyclist hit an oncoming car in the 6500 block of 240th St. S.E. while attempting to pass other cyclists ahead of him, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.
When medics arrived they found a bystander performing CPR on the bicyclist, a spokesperson from Snohomish County Fire District No. 7 said.
Medics also performed CPR but the man, who is believed to be from Kent, died at the scene. A second bicyclist was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, possibly a broken arm.
The Sheriff's Office Collision Investigations Unit is determining the official cause of the accident.
Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors and it's not anticipated that the driver will be charged, the Sheriff's Office said.
The dead bicyclist's name has not been released yet by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.
