Authorities identify husband killed in domestic violence shooting

RENTON, Wash. - A man who was shot and killed during a domestic violence incident has been identified by the King County medical examiner as Jerry L. Butler, 31, of Renton.

Butler's 34-year-old wife has been arrested for shooting and killing her husband Sunday afternoon while her children were in the house, according to the Renton Police Department.

According to police, the wife called 911 shortly before 1:40 p.m. and said she had shot her husband.

Officers arrived in the 12400 block of Southeast 184th Street to find Butler with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers and medics attempted to provide aid, but the victim died at the scene, according to police.

The wife was arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of domestic-violence homicide.

According to police, the woman's children, who were home at the time of the shooting, were released to a family friend.
