AMC kills crime drama set in Seattle

SEATTLE -- After just two season, AMC has cancelled its Seattle based police drama The Killing.

A statement released by the network said after much deliberation executives had come to the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season.

"AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on the project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast," read a statement posted on

The Killing is based on a Danish television series with the same English title.

The series, set in Seattle but filmed in Vancouver British Columbia, follows the investigation into the murder of a teenager. Each episode covers approximately 24 hours in time.

Fox Television Studios has said it plans to look for another network that might be interested in continuing to air future seasons of the show.
