7 teens in one car injured following I-5 crash

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Seven teenagers are recovering after a serious crash Friday night on I-5.

Troopers say a 16-year-old driver wasn't paying attention, slammed on his brakes, and lost control of the four-door Jetta he was driving.

The vehicle spun out-of-control, crossed a grass median, slid broadside and struck a pillar, causing the engine to separate from the vehicle.

Three teens were rushed to Madigan Army Medical Center, while three others were taken to Tacoma General Hospital. One teen was not taken to the hospital.Their ages range from 15 to 17 years old.

The current condition of the teens is unknown.
