3 arrested after wild chase from Des Moines to Seattle

SEATTLE - Three people were arrested overnight after leading police in a wild chase that started in Des Moines and weaved through Burien before ending in Seattle's SODO neighborhood.

The drama began at about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday when officers were dispatched to a home in the 25700 block of 20th Avenue S. to look for a suspect who has a felony warrant for his arrest, said Sgt. Doug Jenkins of the Des Moines police.

As officers were walking up the driveway to the residence a white pickup truck started up and backed out of the driveway. Officers could see there were three people inside the truck, which they knew was driven by the suspect with the felony warrant, Jenkins said.

Officers jumped in their patrol cars and attempted to stop the truck, but it eluded officers as it took a route north through Des Moines.

When the truck reached Burien the officers broke off the pursuit, but King County sheriff's deputies were able to continue following the truck when it was spotted heading north on East Marginal Way.

Deputies were finally able to stop the pickup by spiking its tires near Fourth Avenue and South Horton Street in Seattle.

Des Moines police responded to the scene and took all three occupants of the truck into custody.

All three had warrants out for their arrest, but none of them was the suspect the officers had originally been seeking, Jenkins said. The three will be booked into King County Jail.
