2 men fatally shot in Puyallup identified

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Two people found shot to death in a home in Puyallup's South Hill neighborhood Monday have been identified.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner confirmed Tuesday that both Jeffrey Poling, 36, and 32-year-old Travis Dennis were victims of murder.

Detectives said the homeowner called police late Monday morning after arriving at the home to visit his son and seeing his body through a window. Investigators broke down the door to the home, located in the 9400 block of 175th St. Ct. E., and found the remains of the homeowner's son and another man. Both appeared to have been shot.

"It appears they were both killed in the same room. Doesn't look like there was much of a struggle," said Det. Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators said guns, ammunition and ballistic vests were strewn about the house.

"At this point we have no motive, nobody that saw or heard anything," said Troyer.

Neighbors said they didn't hear any gunshots or see anything unusual until police arrived just after 9 a.m.

Detectives said Monday they do not believe it was a random crime.
