2 injured in wrong-way crash on I-405

BOTHELL, Wash. -- Two people were injured when a wrong-way driver slammed head-on into another car on Interstate 405 early Friday.

Washington State Patrol Sgt. Ken Przygocki said a woman driving a Subaru sedan got on the freeway going the wrong direction at the 124th street ramp about 1:30 a.m.

She went north in the southbound lanes and crashed into directly into Jeep going the opposite direction.

The 24-year-old Newcastle woman who caused the crash had to be cut from her mangled car and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.

The man driving the Jeep that was hit was taken to Evergreen Hospital.

Przygocki said it was possible the woman was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

After she is released from the hospital she will be booked into jail for investigation of vehicular assault.

The southbound lanes of I-405 were shut down while troopers collected evidence at the scene.
