A parking enforcement officer first spotted a truck in the University District near 17th Ave. NE and NE 47th. The officer ran the truck's plates and learned it had been reported stolen, according to Renee Witt with the Seattle Police Department.
The parking enforcement officer called for backup, and more Seattle police officers arrived moments later.
Those officers started following the stolen truck, and when the driver noticed the tail he sped away and began driving recklessly, according to Witt.
The driver took a sharp turn near 25th Ave. NE and NE 44th and slammed head on into another car. Witt said the stolen truck briefly continued on until the driver crashed into a nearby tree.
The male driver and his female passenger then bailed out of the truck and took off on foot. Police searched the area but were unable to find the pair.
Two people from the other car were taken to Harborview Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
