2 deputies stung by bees during search for motorcycle thief

MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- Two Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies were stung by bees while searching for an armed motorcycle thief near Marysville Tuesday afternoon.

Several deputies and two search helicopters were searching for the 38-year-old suspect near the 2700 block of 116th Street NE, where the stolen red Ninja motorcycle was found abandoned, the Snohomish County sheriff's office said.

But during the search, two deputies stumbled into a bees nest and were stung several times by either bees or yellow jackets, officials said. Both deputies were treated by medics at the scene and are expected to fully recover.

Police were unsuccessful in their search for the thief, who is described as a 6-foot tall Caucasian man with brown hair and wearing a dirty T-shirt.
