1 person killed, 3 others injured in fiery car crash near Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Wash -- One person was killed and three others were injured in a fiery Thursday night car crash on I-405 in Bellevue.

The crash took place in the southbound lanes of I-405 near Main Street at roughly 9:45 p.m.

Three vehicles were involved, and one of them rolled several times and caught fire, trapping the driver inside. That person was killed, according to Washington State Patrol trooper Chris Webb.

Three other people were injured in the wreck, but all three are expected to survive.

Webb said it appears the vehicle that rolled and caught fire was speeding, but he said another vehicle may have "assisted in the collision." Troopers are investigating the crash as a vehicular homicide.

Witness Ezekiel Anthony saw the crash and its frightening aftermath.

"It was immediately engulfed in intense flames," he said. "The car was definitely burning, and it was burning fast. I'm thinking the gas tank must have ruptured."

Southbound I-405 remained closed to traffic for hours as crews cleared the scene and troopers investigated the crash.
