1 killed, 2 injured in crash on Highway 522

KENMORE, Wash. -- A woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a head-on crash on Highway 522 early Tuesday.

King County sheriff's Sgt. Cindy West said a car eastbound on Bothell Way NE crossed the center divider near 65th Ave NE and slammed into an SUV going the opposite direction.

The impact flipped the SUV onto its top, and two people had to be cut from the wreck. Both were taken to Evergreen Hospital where they were said to be in satisfactory condition.

The 23-year-old Seattle woman driving the car died at the scene. Her name has not been released.

West said there was slush on the highway at the time of the collision, but it was not clear if weather was a factor in the crash.

Both directions of the road were closed while police collected evidence and crews work to clear the wrecked vehicles.
